    Christmas portrait

I have not posted for a while but did have a chance to try for some portraits at Christmas. My grand-daughter was not very co-operative this time, but I managed to snap this one before the session was over. It's a three light shot using a homemade softbox using tungsten bulbs totaling 400 watts. A white foamcore reflector was placed on the opposite side for fill. Oh yeah, there was a light on the backdrop to bring the level up and a homemade 150 watt accent light from camera right. Aperture was
f2.8 and shutter speed was 1/30 sec. Focal length used was 100mm[ 35mm equiv.] The framing was not perfect as the subjects were moving around but I'm glad I got this one.
Any suggestions for improvment besides learning how to get children to be more co-operative during photo sessions. Thanks in advance.

    Re: Christmas portrait

    Gimp, I am digging it.

nice catchlights in the beautiful baby eyes
    great expression on the baby
    hair nicely lit
    good separation from the background

the only thing is the hotspot on the forehead, but you can take care of that with some processing

also shooting wide open at a low shutter speed probably limits you quite a bit, especially with children but you did a great job on this one.

this one is great and it only takes 1 great shot out of a session to make it!

    Thanks,
    Wes

Who are they, where are they, how can they possibly know all the rules?
