Dragonflies in blue

Cleaned up some shots I took a few weeks back, got the sky to pop a bit more, cloned out some lens smudges, ect. Your thoughts?

Great closeups, although the bottom one doesn't seem as tack sharp as the top one. As for the bg, I think they make the dragonflies stand out more, and for me, that helps. The blue in the top is a little more complementary IMO. I'd suggest a bg color change in the bottom one.

Thanks guys, you are correct, not to my usual spec regarding crisp sharpness. I just neverr had a nice blue background behind any of my dragon pics so, I wanted to get some feedback on the b/g. Thanks for the input.

Wow, you always have the coolest looking dragonflies in your shots! Where the heck do you find them? Are you in the midwest? I really like your first one.

Thanks Anbesol! I am located in the midwest, chicago area, and I do have some luck with local ponds and such. These shots were taken in Ft. Meyers. The abundence of species down there is amazing. The tip I give people most often is, learn the habits and specifics of the creatures you are attempting to photograph. Total inconspicuous immersion into their enviornment is clutch here. Study their behavioral patterns and apply some patience and you are sure to turn up some winners when you process your data card contents.
