Re: The Old School
J-Dogg,
Oh, it's real alright. This picture was taken on a photo shoot at a ranch with structures that date back to the 1880's. It is a designated historical site, owned by the State of California. The mold used for making these tiles was on display inside this house. The mortar/clay mixture came from the grounds in the surrounding area. Quite the place.

Re: The Old School
That's a very nice shot...like the composition, colors.....
One question though, why white background? it feels as if you cut out the background or the sky or whatever, dunno if you did that or not just sayin that the white kind of takes away from the "age" factor of the building...
Does it make sense??

Re: The Old School
CF,
I really like the colours but feel the sky lets this down and could do with a real deep polarized blue to complement the oranges and browns.
I don't get the feeling of old school either, more old roof/chimney but they look in too good a nic.
Nice textures and feel this would be good in B&W because of the sky being so washed out.

Re: The Old School
I like the roof line but agree as well on the sky. This one would be a very good canidate for a sky replacement or an HDR picture. I really like the angle and DOF on this one CF...

Re: The Old School
I'm with the others, the first thing I thought as I looked at this image is nice colors and crop.
The second thing I thought was, "What happened to the sky?"
A nice blue sky would probably add a lot.

Re: The Old School
Thanks all for your comments. I do not disagree regarding the sky. However, this day was a deep over cast but very bright. Thus, white sky. Second, my skills with PS are limited; I have no idea how to cut and paste a different sky. My fault, but, the photo is what it is. As for the Old School, I meant, they don't make roofs like this anymore-hand made materials, laid by hand.
Regardless, thanks for the input. I truly appreciate the feedback. I too would like to see a nice blue sky behind this orange. Might make all the difference.
Thanks again.
