Nice shot. The rusted color just screams in this pic when its contrasted with the green. The sky is a little bland, but it's not that bad.

The upper edges of the grader get lost in the trees. Compare that part with the lower part backed by the green grass. I don't suppose a high viewpoint angle was possible. The complementary colors work well on the lower part.

Colors are attractive, but the whole scene is too static. The grader is right in the middle of the frame, making it kinda not very interesting.

Could you get closer? Up under it? Somehow give it a different angle?

Jared, you think the sky is bland now, you should have seen it in the original. Not a lot to work with sky wise, but I managed to save as much as I could.

Chunk, I deffinetly see what you mean about the grader getting lost in the trees. This would have been pretty easy to avoid by standing up along the road, instead of getting down in the ditch in front of it. I will remember that for next time.

Kelly, composition has never been a strong point for my photography, and I feel that that is where I need the most work. Thanks for the input.

i think you should make the sky a little deeper, more blue. Maybe use polarized filter, maybe just curves

The the image is nice, I think the composition would be stronger if the subject was moved down left a little.

This old grader makes a great subject. I agree with what was said about the composition. I think getting lower to bring the top of the grader into the sky would be more effective, and also a little lighting falling on the subject perhaps even casting a shadow would add more visual interest as well. Also, this scene is a great candidate for b&w. Give it another go.
