The Old Couple
Here is another shot with Trix. Same roll and lens just a different day and the other side of the lake. I actually live just a couple of houses from this lake.

Re: The Old Couple
I like this shot. Have you looked at it with the tree trunk cropped out? - TF

Greg
1. I am so envious of you living that close to a lake
2. I think this is a fabulous shot and love it and B&W makes it.
3. I would consider cropping the grass in the foreground and see what it looks like. However I would keep the tree - gives it a nice frame

Re: The Old Couple
Nice one. For me, the tree adds balance to the frame with your subjects on the far right. The geese in the lake are an added plus. With the Tri-X tones and grain, this has a vintage feel to it.

Re: The Old Couple
Hmm. Peaceful overall. I am not sure the sidewalk (or at least that much of it) adds anything. The shot is slightly geometric, which I think bothers me a little. There is a lot of dark area here too, but I don't think you could do anything about it. The black and white is a bit of a plus, IMO.

Re: The Old Couple
Thanks all I was undecided about the sidewalk. I am happy with the tree in the shot but about 50-50 with the sidewalk. Thanks for the help.

Re: The Old Couple
Greg, I think if you are 50/50 on the sidewalk then just take half of it out and everything will be just right, Jeff

Re: The Old Couple
I think it would look better without the side walk but keeping the tree. I like the picture how it is but since you are undecided on the side walk, I say "no sidewalk."

Re: The Old Couple
Yeah... I just love this one. Whatever you did in post makes it look like a scene from another era. Perfect.
Are they, in fact, odd?

Re: The Old Couple
Grandpaw, Marco, Dray....Thanks. Dray I really did nothing in PPing. Cloned a small amount of trash. This was shot with a Summicron 50mm, 1950ish lens and TriX.

Re: The Old Couple
Greg, well you fooled me twice (once here, once elsewhere). :P Great job!
EDIT: Gets my vote for a Sticky.

Re: The Old Couple
The tree directs the eye to the couple, if that makes sense.

Re: The Old Couple
Thanks Lang. It makes since.

Re: The Old Couple
Nice Greg. Leave it as is. The sidewalk adds to the layers in the image. the couple stands out very well from the light, calm lake water. There is good balance overall here in the composition and I love grain and analog noise. there is texture . . .
Good one here.

Man, I must have been out of it when I made that first post. I read it "The *Odd* Couple," yet I couldn't see Tony Randall anywhere!
