    Old Bones

An old building in Kentucky across the street from a gas stop. I like how the logs fit and how they've outlasted the strong young backs that lifted them. Whenever I see these old houses and barns I think of the future the owners were imagining to sustain them while doing the huge amount of work needed to make them. Can't you hear the good natured fellowship among the neighbors helping to raise this house and the dancing at the party following its completion?

Yes, Chunk, i can. It's an excellent and sensitive shot. I use to wish I was from that era, so simple and real. Now I think "dang what a lot of work, then die young". Caves Cove in Tennessee has a lot of those type houses and its nostalgic to picture their lives.
    Very good work..

Nice shot here Chunk. I like the color saturation and texture of the logs. It is suprising how tight a fit they could on this old log structures. Where in KY were you when you took this picture.

I'm not real sure. I think it was probably east of Frankfort and Lexington. I was riding 3 digit roads and staying away from interstates while heading for a rally near Ashville in NC. Since it was the first time I had been through that area I couldn't take a wrong turn and all the roads were great.

Lots of good 3 digit roads thru central KY. Some very nice easy on the eyes country through there. Hope you enjoyed your ride through the Bluegrass State. I have a son that works in Frankfort and lives in Louisville. My wife and I spent the day in Lexington Saturday we live about 50 miles north of there.

    Hi Chunk,
I like your idea very much. The pic depicts very interesting patterns, I suggest to shoot the objects when directional sunlight instead of diffused sunlight to reveal more textutre.
    All the best.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to comment.
Here's a poorly exposed shot of the whole building.

I really like that close up shot, Chunk. The texture and detail, sharpness is all there. I have always been into woodworking myself, as ahobby , and know the workmanship and effort that went into fitting these logs together in this way.
Yes, as Yoyo pointed out, a little sun lighting may help this shot even more, but I really enjoy it as it is.
