    night fish eye

Ok, this is a very strange shot.... i'd say. and it's not that technically great i'll admit, but it's just another idea that i'm trying to develop. I took this after i got board covering a 24 hr running race for the paper. I was using a fish eye lense and i layed the camera on the ground. I used a 13 second exposure to capture the stars in the back ground and the flash to capture the runner. the one thing i didn't anticipate was the runner's head light. i'm not sure if it works or not, please let me know.
it would have been nice if he had on different color shirt and pants
    c + c welcome as always

i was worried about freaking people out with the flash at night, so i went to the hand off point and talked to the runners before they started then i counted 1..2..3.. FLASH! i messed up this one girl so badly that she ran into the forest and almost hit a tree. i had to catch her and point her in the right direction

I think this shot is fantastic. A metaphysical illusion--a force rising from the guys head into the sky.

light is heavier than air, this is light striking the runner from above

It looks like the runner was beamed down. You should have a starship photoshopped into it. I like it, nice conceptual shot.

gotta love fisheyes! i love the concept a lot and i feel that this shot has a great deal of potential. i thought at first he was getting hit by lightning, then i thought about it and i realized that there were no clouds in the sky. the stars are a great bonus. i never see those things anymore, being in an area with a lot of powerful lights. i guess they are still there, but i never look up.
However, the combo of the blown out sidewalk and the muddiness around the runner kind of take away the zestiness & spice (you can tell ive been watching Food network a lot recently) that this shot could have. try maybe an off camera flash. but not bad work.
I don't want it, I just need it...to breath ...to feel ...to know I'm alive.

haha - that cracked me up.

Nice shot - I dig it. I like the effect from the headlight. Another option might be rear shutter curtain sync flash so the headlight streams behind the runner...

i tried that, but i couldn't time the 13 second exposure right to get the runner in the shot, all you'd see is a beam of light and no runner. and i need the 13 seconds for the stars. If anyone wants to play around with this in photo shop, feel free. i'd love to see what crazy ideas this has created.
