New to this stuff ;D

Hello everyone..! I'm new to the photography world, I just received my Canon XSi with the 18-55mm kit lens about three days ago. I can't even remember how or why I decided to get into it... I guess I travel a lot and just regret not having any quality images to go along with the many fond memories I have experienced. These are just a few shots I took the other day while out on a walk at the local lake, playing with shutter speed and other minor manual adjustments in attempts to get acquainted with the camera. Go ahead and point out anything I could've improved on. I'm pretty sure these are all cropped, and they are sort of similar types of photographs... nothing complex at all. I could list the picture info ( aperture etc. ) if need be. Haven't had the chance to get any decent landscapes yet, which other than macro style, would probably be my favorite kind of picture to take. I feel that I am a relatively creative person and just can't wait to progress in knowledge and skill with my new dSLR!

Wow! Images are big... whoops! - apologies... I'll try to down size this one a bit better. It's of my sisters dog that she saved from a broken home.. Her official name is "Baby" but I call her "Fool" lol... (She actually responds to the name too.)

Congrats on your new cam. I like the one with the lady bug the best. The 1st one is way too busy for me with no real focus subject. I like the expression on your dog's face but the background is distracting. I think if u shot at a lower aperture u coulda had the background blured a bit more and an hence less distracting.

In the future i think it's better to put one image in every thread u create. That way you'll get people to comment on that particular photo instead of just critiquing one or two of the set, like i just did. lol . If you have more shots to share then just create more threads.

Wow, very nice for all a beginners photos, or even and intermediate photographer, keep it up.

I agree that the second is the most interesting.
The first lacks a point o finterest and the pump has too much cut off at edges. Not sure I like the tilt either.
