    Mom & Baby

We went to a local petting zoo on Thursday (although, we obviously didn't pet these guys)...and there was a new spider monkey baby. This shot, I believe the baby was nursing...the mom was turned away slightly though.

Interesting shot... not the prettist, but very real. This mom seems to be very protective of her child, and a little scared of you. The baby is definitely apprehensive (the eyes give that away).

Yeah, I wouldn't have petted these puppies either, even if I could.

As GB stated, not the prettiest pic, but I think that is why I like it...not your typical baby and mom cutesy animal photo.
Looks like very harsh lighting condition...which gives that gritty look. I would play around with some burn and dodging on this after lowering the contrast a bit. The mom's arm could be burned in a bit and maybe dodge the baby's face to bring it out some more.
The composition, dof and expressions all work for me. Good work.

    Cheers.

GB & Tao...thanks for your thoughts on this... Yeah...I'm not sure I CAN get a pretty shot of these guys...and I liked what GB commented on...the realness of them.
Tao...I think you're right about the dodging and burning, the shot would benefit from that.

    Thanks again for the feedback!

This works very nicely. A slight dodging of the baby's face might help balance the exposure but nice as is.
