    Recent Bloomer

I'm not normally a big fan of flower pictures, but we had these around and I liked the way this one looked. Thoughts? I've got a larger size on my Flickr account if you're interested.

I really like this shot. The back stamen is a bit out of focus... perhaps a click less DOF?

I'm enjoying the colors, however I'm wondering what lens you used on it.

Excellent shot! A bit too centered for my taste, but still a great shot. I think you nailed the exposure and DOF.

Thanks for the comments. This was shot with a Tamron 28-75 at 47mm and I think it was around F/5.6, 1/10s exposure, ISO 100. I had a larger flashlight below the flower and held a small mini-mag pointed at the stamen. It also lost a little sharpness when I reduced the size for posting.

I like this shot a lot. The colors are great, and I like the lighting too. One thing I would do tho, is burn out the other elements in the negative space on the photo. It looks like there is a flower of some kind directly behind and below the main subject. I would burn them in so they dissapear completely. I do like the image as is, but I find those other flowers to be a bit distracting.
