Crops of an image: landscape vs. box

The tale of two angles (crops) from one rocky image.

My initial thought was that the super wide crop would be really neat, but the result doesn't do much for me... The other crop is more of a standard box shape, but looks better to me. (The last image is the whole scene.)

My question here is, what do you think of the super wide crop? If you don't like it, why doesn't it work? (I guess I don't see why it doesn't seem better.)

Thanks for your feedback! - GB

Of the three.....I like the middle one the best. The bottom one........The clumps of grass?? are distracting. The top one........I feel like you're losing too much of the sky in the crop.
    Just my opinion.
