I suggest that anyone curious about slide film try Provia 100 or 100F. Scans so well!

Nice tonalities. To me having the subject in the center is a little bothersome BTJM
    (but that's just me)

    Re: Pond Landscape

My intention is to have the Pine tree and it's reflection in the tea-colored water be the main subject, but I also wanted to include the sky since the deep blue and the white clouds contrasted well. I may have tried to include too much in this one. Could you describe (or show me) how you'd prefere to see the layout?

    Re: Pond Landscape

    Hi ,

I think this is a beautiful photo .
The chances i would make is a bit more clouds and less water .
I see you mention you like shooting in black and white , but i would still love to see this one in color ! It look that there could be a beautiful contrast of colors in there !

    Regards
    james

More sky (of course you would need to have that on the neg), less reflection. Cropping into the tree reflection may cause a little "visual tension", but some jusdicious burning will fix that. For the pine tree to be the center of interest you don't need to have all of the reflection. It's that symmetry thing (for me) again. ;)

The sky is crudely cloned but gives the idea. Red marks are for crop.

    Re: Pond Landscape

I like this landscape! And I like the shot. Probably being nitpicky.......but, the strip of land is sort bright to me. Otherwise, the clouds an all look great. I would also like to see this in color.
I darken this up in photoshop and it really helped the bright strip of land.

    Re: Pond Landscape

Except for the blue sky, everything else was a shade of brown, so I didnt feel I was loosing anything with the b&w film.

The little island in the picture on the right is a bit over exposed

So, ignoring the overexposed land to the right, which cropping would you guys prefer?
