    My son

I really like this picture of my son but I'm never sure if I'm doing it justice in the editing. I don't have the correct set up to be able to flood the background to make it white when I take the picture so it is gray in the original. I wasn't actually trying to shoot him when I took this picture. I was trying to set up to take a portrait of my 6 month old but at the time she wasn't sitting well so I asked him to fill in so I could see what it would look like. I didn't like the gray so I never did take her picture but this one is my son complaining that there is too much light coming in from the window. Any thoughts?

Great tonal quality and expression. I really love the composition of the image as well. The only thing that would look really wicked (my personal taste) would be a black boarder to enclose the image.

I have the same camera :> Anyways the shot looks good, on the arm it appears to be too much light. I would like to see the shadows darker. Good reflection in the eye!!!

    Thank you all!

I would like to see the shadows darker.
Now for the dumb question....Is that something I can do now in photoshop or should I have tried to light it better when taking the picture? I was only using the light from a window for this one.

I think the original is just fine. But if you want to play I suggest you make a copy in PS. The more you practice with PS the better you'll understand what it can do. Layers would be good. Make an all white layer behind the original copy then mask out the original background using quick mask. Once you mask out the original background the second layer can be of anything from clouds to abstract.

    Have fun,

I've loooked at this several times since you posted. I think the lighting is good anyou have that kid being kid look. I tend to think his arm dominates the frame based on its position and might suggest a crop. The face and the hand is wha tthis one is all about.

A great moment is made stronger by great light and tones. Well done.

How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.
