    My New Bike
    Eighteen Speeds

When my wife went into the hospital for a while,
I bought myself a bicycle thinking
now I can ride it to visit her.
But I knew that my old age
went down one notch and hers went up.

    We have been racing
    for the last 43 years
    and it's not always fair.

    I'm not used to strutting;
but with my new classy helmet
and my big back pack and the little velcro piece
I attach around the right leg of my jeans,
I felt like a football hero.
Perhaps now I am the one
    she should have married.

Don that is beautiful. I love the sentiment of your words mixed in with the obvious pride of your new ride in your picture. I like the scene as you are showing it, it has pretty complimentary colors. But oh how I wish you had shown us more or all of that beautiful long shadow stretching away in the shape of your bike. Perhaps if you decide to photograph your bike again you might think about putting it toward the top of the frame so the shadow can stretch out. Just a thought.

Looks like a Ridgeback from here. Cindy is so right about that fantastic shadow.
Good luck with your new machine , from one cyclist to another!

Oh and very best wishes to your wife too, hope all is well.

Thanks guys. About the shadow. The original photo included the whole shadow. I cropped it so I could make a print to show Joyce my bike. Then mistakenly copied the cropped version over the original processed picture. I'll fix the raw image again and post it.
