blue sky in ireland (rare occurence)

hi there, I've finally decided to come out from the shadows where i've been lurking for the last couple of weeks (since I bought the D70) watching the fantastic array of pictures that are posted here.
I used to be a point and shoot man as i always had my lomo or smena with me but decided to take it one step further (SLR) and go digital in one giant leap, and i now am the proud and happy owner of the D70, even though i still find it daunting.
All this to say, this posting is not up to the standard of most posts here, and i don't have photoshop or anything like that yet (and it does seem pretty compulsory if I want to improve my photos), but i just wanted to get a feel as to what i might be doing wrong or right on a shot like this.

    thanks for your comments

    chris
