    murder by numbers

Happened upon this scene while walking along Miami Beach this afternoon.
Anyone have any thoughts on selective color?

I like the yellows but not the police car lights -- maybe red and blue, or a deeper rad and blue.

    agreed with Jason.

On another note: the composition is great, as is the depth of field. Well spotted and executed.

Neat, but creepy, shot. Good idea to use the selective coloring - I'd go with the color on just the numbers though.

Nice. It is a bit unsettling in a way. The selective coloring works here, you did a good job with that. I'm not usually a fan of it and I feel it usually detracts from the image. I do think I would like to see the closer numbers more in focus to help lead my eyes into and through the image.

    Re: murder by numbers

    Thanks everyone for your input.
    So here's what we have...
    the original

with darker lights on patrol car

with all colors stripped but the yellow

I think I like the darker lights best as the patrol car fades into oblivion otherwise.

For those that may be interested this photo was taken about a block from Viscaya directly on Ocean Drive, South Beach, Miami. I later found out that this was the scene of a prostitute that had been stabbed and she wandered about a block and a half down to where the police cars are before colapsing and dieing. The markers were to document bloodspots along the path she took. Sad story...

Ok, I like the last one, I'd even make the yellow tape grey though it's nice yellow too. Well done.
