    macro attempts (not flowers) :D

any comments much appreciated! I know the subject isn't all colorful, and a bit boring, but this was just practice.

Great shots, your selectived DOF on the bottom one works great IMO. A lovely color of the wings, a great background of wood, and great colors! Very nice shooting!

Thanks Jared. When I started shooting (25 days ago) I don't remember getting a good response. However, due to responses here, and persistence, I am now starting to get some interest. Thanks to everyone who has ever given me any advice. I know sometimes it seems as if I try to make excuses. Actually just letting you know the circumstances so you may be able to help.

Thanks again for the critique Jared!

OoH! I missed these - What good photos - before I forget what is it.

I like both but prefer the second because of the DOF. I love the colours and can see why the insect chose that spot to land - a little camouflage.

Did you chop his antenna or is one supposed to be shorter than the other?

Did you try to take a picture face on? That could be an interesting shot.

Couldn't get the "head-on" shot. It was on my deck and facing out, I almost squished it with my camera bag, due to the blending. It must have been in a struggle, I didn't harm it . The wings are great to me, they look like clear stained glass.

I have no idea what it is. There I go again, snapping something and no idea what. Insects have been a challeng for me, this one was still so it was easy practice.

Great shots, I love the first one, the combination of the textures and colours work great, and nice composition!

Humm interesting bug , the clarity of your first photo is excelent very sharp, the wood grain realy jumps right out there & the bug itself also. Second one shows better use of DOF and still gives a good view of the colors ot the wood the grain and of the detail of the bugs wings.I dont know if you croped this photo but if you did i think you did well in placing your main subject in the center it looks good.
