Portrait: Colour vs. Black & White?

I would like to know which one do you like better.

    Shot the dude(drummer) after his band's show(photos:https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...0875938&type=1).

The black and white. only because there is too much yellow light in the colour version. I do like the way the yellow highlights his hair, so if you corrected colour cast I would still leave the bits of it warm.

The black and white one could be a touch brighter IMO. The color one, even if there's a color cast, if it's what it looked like where you photographed him, I don't think you need to color correct much to make it unrealistic. Is he taller than you? I think you could have asked him to "chin down" a bit

B/W. You might also try to crop in on the face a bit closer.

Tough question! Given the two options, I would say the B&W, but I think you could do something real special with a colour version. I really like the image and agree with Ptax, a tighter crop might add to it, but I would try some alternate versions before deciding on this one.

I can't decide. I like the golden hue of the color version. Has a vintage look, but may be a little too saturated. I also like it in black and white.

His face seems to come out more in the color version for some reason. Maybe it is the contrast level chosen for the black and white.

Nice lighting. Looks almost like a young Robert Plant.

p.s. good job shooting at Middle East. Shot there often. The lighting was generally awful.

the color version looks really good

the b&W maybe more interesting with some more brightness and contrast

That's is what caught my eye, he only reason I have a color version is because of the hair. The light is always against me.

I prefer the color to the b&w, but my first thought when I look at the color version is "Gee, this dude looks stoned". I love the red and gold tones of his back-lit wispy hair, but the red in the eyes is too distracting. Maybe working with color tone and brightness would help?
