Re: Motor bike in store room

I think the one main thing that I see wrong with the photo is the hole in the roof that has the bright light coming through. It is VERY distracting for me and takes my eye away from the main subject. If I were you, I would crop that out. It would make for a stronger image.

I think the lighting is what makes this image. It has a burnished look. The blueish light coming from the hole in the roof does conflict a little but I think that point of light balances the composition.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. To me, this is an image that begs for some tone-mapping. I agree with Don, I think the lighting makes for a stronger image. But I also think that the ceiling light appears to be blown-out, which distracts from the overall image.

Tone-mapping, done correctly, would fix the lighting issue and put MUCH more detail back into the shadow areas, strengthening the image overall. The central subject of the image- the bike- seems to have a good balance of lighting, and I think it would "pop" under tone-mapping.

Overall, it's an excellent image though. Well done!

Great overall scene. A lot of depth, mystery, interesting objects.

    What could be better:

I want the bike to be better lit, and more dominant in the scene. I think the light at the top could be fine as long as the bike was better illuminated. Perhaps if rays of light were streaming through the hole, illuminating the bike? (I think of the famous Antelope Canyon light rays)

The sharpness isn't there. Was this intentional? I don't think so, but some folks are pretty artsy and try experiments like this.

Wonderful light. I don't mind the hole in the roof. I do wish you had gotten the whole bike in the shot though (the tire is cut off.)
