    First one is just stunning. Love the gradient from blue to orange back to blue of the water. The silhouetted birds are very strong and a great compositional element. Amazing shot,

    I personaly like the second one. I like the light on the water, it has an interesting effect.

    They were taken with a really dodgy 3.2 megapixel Olympus digital camera, hand held, no filters.

    I really want to get a new camera, It is so difficult to decide on what.

    Where were you ,on the first photo?
    I could definatly live with the first one,-I mean as art on my wall
    - used to own a dodgy 3.2 Olympus...lol
    My Bro. bought my new Sony Hd-9,but when I realized what it cost,wished I had waited for the canon rebel,DSLR...

    JJ - Not bad shots at all. They may have been even better using a horizontal format though. Nice sunrise and I like the two different levels of detail - the first being very basic in terms of only seeing shapes, whereas in the second you can see the waves. Both are good in different ways.

    This definitely stirs memories. I run a lot of races too (including marathons) and they almost always start very early. It can be pitch dark when you arrive at the starting area..
