Moraine Lake, Canadian Rockies
Hi all,
I wonder this shot is too cliché. Is this something to save for personal use, or does it have a wider appeal? Is there anything else that I could do with it?
Thanks in advance,
Tim

Hello Old School
Perhaps most landscapes could be classified as cliches but this does not make them bad photographs and I think this one is very good with lots to look around at and the inclusion of the old raft in the foreground increases the interest.

That's a well composed landscape and the colors just jump at me while remaining natural. There is a thin line not to be crossed color wise with these kind of shots and you nailed it here I think.
My only critique is that I would loose the few rocks in the extreme right foreground to focus on the pieces of wood. I don't think that we see enough of them to make them worthy.

My only critique is that I would loose the few rocks in the extreme right foreground (if it was possible) to focus on the pieces of wood. However, no crop seems satisfying here. Too much land would be wasted either way so it seems that the rocks must remain...

Thanks for the review (x2) Seb
I'll tell you, that place is just full of colors. I did shoot in vivid mode, but I did absolutely nothing to the colors in post processing. It's hard to mess up a shot in that location.
As for the crop suggestion, I think it's a good one. However, I try and keep things in a full frame ratio (8x12). In some ways this is limiting. But in other ways, it keeps me learning how to use the viewfinder better.
Thanks again. I appreciate the good words...

Re: Moraine Lake, Canadian Rockies
This is a beautiful scene. this could make a print that I'm sure would sell.
I have to say that although I'm one that favors objects in the foreground, i find this raft to be too much. I see this scene without the raft, full of that great color water and the canoe brought in closer with the great rockies in the bg. However , I like it as it is and you certainly have a fine image here.
