I like this one Greg. I do see evidence of cloning though. I still like the feel of it, though.

Thanks John, I will work on it some more. Sometimes I don't see flaws until I print it.

Thanks again John, I went back and saw a lot of areas to work on, I don't know why I didn't see them before? Oh well that's why I post them.

Here's an edit. I tried to clean it up some and played around with some other settings?

I like your first version. The image looks almost like a painting and I'm wondering if it could be due to Noise reduction program?
Anyway, it looks good. Your works have been progressing and improving consistently. Keep going, and keep raising your standards.

I like this a lot. It has the feel of a Frence impressionist painting of the late 1800's.

Thanks Gary, Thanks Almo. I use Neat Image for noise reduction.

Noise reduction is something I personally deplore. I admit to being intrigued by it when it was the new toy in the chest, but since then I have come to feel that it is better to not mess with such things. If noise is a problem, as it is for me, then I feel one should choose a camera that suits that need.

This is one main reason I switched back to Canon. However, I am not condemning your use, just stating my personal opinion on the matter.

    Re: City Fishin' Version 2

im personally against NR programs, I just use an action in PS to *slightly* decrease the noise if there's a lot of it. I just hate the noise reduction look, it makes everything look so fake. Plus, noise can give a shot character. But in this case it's actually kind of cool. Like said, sort of an impressionistic feel. Without the impressionism. Take the idea and run with it though...go to atncentral and see if you can find an impressionistic action and run it and see how you like it, because I think its a great image for it. The only problem I have with this image is the color. the colors are just simply drab. not much pop anywhere. And again, those are just the biproducts of NR, one of the main reasons i prefer not to use it.

oh, I have an oil on canvas action that i wrote up myself. If you would like to use it, just PM me and I'll send you a copy.

Thanks for your critique Brent, I will give it a shot in PS and see what I come up with. I think you are right this would be a good image to try it on.

Today so much post processing is being done that I don't think any image is with out some sort of PP work. Noise reduction software or photoshop what makes the difference. I haven't had any issues with noise out of my E500. I know I am still green compared to alto of you but I am real happy with my Olympus, what noise reduction software did you use? Neat image?

Tyson, I very rarely use any NR software. I have never had any noise/grain problems with my Oly either. I have four pictures hanging in an Art Gallery here in Rome and one is a 16x20. The others are 11x14s and they look fine. Two were shot at night and two in the day, short and long exposures. But I rarely shoot over 200 ISO either and I never shot 800iso even when I shot film. I mostly use Neat Image on some of my old film scans. I have used the Oly at different ISOs and so far I am pleased. But I also don't use the kit lens. I think the problem is at higher ISOs.
Brent, Here is one that I played with some. I have a PS book that shows how to get a painted on canvas look. What do you think?

I have shot at ISO 800 and I have not had any grain issues. I was shooting at 800 for that softball game but it was daylight. I must try this over 800 thing, I always shoot at 100.

    Nice picture by the way!
