NY ferry

Hi..
This is a picture of the NY ferry from the west side..
Just took it with the D70 and a infected with fungus Nikon AI 300mm 4.5 lens.
UNTOUCHED.

The colors on the water are spectacular, but the subject (the ferry) actually hurts the scene because it is so dark and blurry. The bg does not look too sharp either. I think it would be difficult to get that fast moving ferry sharp at night.

Hmmm.

I feel you have a successful expt here. It has a very abstract feel to it. I think it the upper area was also somewhat fuzzy that it would look much like an impressionist painting or, more likely, a Van Gogh. Try making that area fuzzy too in PhotoShop or something and see how it looks.

Another suggestion is to try a slight crop to get the boat away from the center of the pic.

Looks like you used just the right shutter speed to get blur.

Not bad with fungus Nikon AI 300mm 4.5 lens. Colors in this shoot make it, but stopping the ferry is imposable at night even with a faster lens. I think the burr of the ferry takes way from the photo myself.
