Model 3
Editing my shots of this model, I can't decide which of the images of this particular pose is the best. Realize that I am not super happy with any of the expressions here, though I do like her legs arrangement. I guess I just didn't do my best work at having her convey the right attitude and expression.
Anyway, which image do you prefer?

Re: Model 3
Third shot is the keeper in my opinion. Much prefer the alternate hand position and rotation of head with the chin slightly down. First shot, the head position almost seems awkward, but the near hand on the seat and legs are working well. Never was a fan of the near hand position in the second shot, I know it's comfortable ( I see tons of models doing it) but it doesn't translate well to a 2 dimensional image - especially when they put their weight on it (she didn't here). I guess what bothers me is the odd geometry of the arm coming down and the hand going back up at the wrist.

Re: Model 3
Thanks Jim. I like her pose in general, but I wish I had taken a few more to pick from.
I agree with the hand on hip comment..it CAN work, but only with some models and poses, maybe if they're throwing their hips outward more. The photographer definitely has to help the model out because they can't see what a pose looks like: had a model who was doing some wild stuff with kicking her legs out towards the camera, I had to tell her that the foreshortening didn't look right.
Shooting models is such a learning experience :) At least the scenery's good though.

Re: Model 3
Yeah, it's really surprising how mentally draining a shoot like this can be, with all the decisions that have to be made though the session. Far more work than most people think due to the dynamic nature and constant requirement to "be creative". Lately I head home and crash for a couple hours after a shoot, without even looking at what I've captured until my brain has had a chance to rest a bit.

Re: Model 3
I agree that the third one is the best choice. Everything, besides her facial expression, is wonderful.
