    The Mini

Here is another revisited shot. This one was also submited here last spring. This is not exactly the shot that I would like to present you, my reflection clearly doesn't work here but still, I felt like sharing this one as well.

Great shot seb (hopefully as this being my second post I can use your first name ). I love the 'dullness' of the gray of the vehicle color, then the vivid colors of the tail lights. Though I'm not a huge fan of a reflection in this shot, it certinaly does add, what I believe, is an interesting and realistic touch.

    Well that's my two cents,

    Jared

Thanks Jared! Now that I look back to this shot, I am thinking that colorizing the tail light possibly was too much as it almost looks like a full colours shot of a grey car.

Good framing and exposure, but not feeling good about the reflection in this one, as you mentioned. I think i remeber this shot and we were trying to figure out how you could achieve the same shot without the reflection. . .would be a challenge, I think.

Could you tell me why did you do this shot? I just can't get the idea of this composition, it is just a one not very expressive element of car, though the quality is very good...

    Hello Gohan,

Actually, I haven't put deep thought in the crafting of these car shots. I just shot it from various angles which appeared interesting to me. I basically like the design of the Mini so my opinion here may be tinted.

Do you have suggestions to share composition wise? I am always interested to hear others opinion.

    regards

Great composition on the shot. I'd be curious what this photo looked like before editing for colors to bring out the badge and tail light. I think the reflection, not just the photographer but the pole and building are hurting the shot. I enjoy automotive photography and its PITA when it comes to the reflection of the surrounding environment. Its hard to find pleasing surrounding that work well as reflections. Thats my 2 cents.. the shot is great though..

    cheers.

Hello Paul, Thanks for commenting. I have already posted this picture in b&w in early june. Small is beautiful I can always post a color version if you want to see it. The reflection does annoy me. I'll try to locate myself as far as possible from the car, the next time I go for something like this.

    Hello Seb,

In fact I knew that you would say that Well, maybe this forum is created for the share of different photos that different people like, just to recognize the opinion of other people (though I myself try to share only close to best ones).
On the other hand, I'm a bit sick of that praise every visitor of the forum does to every photo (what a great shot etc.). So I from now am trying to be a little more critical, and that's what I did with your latter image.

    Bye for now

Gohan, I hear you. It's a fact that several pictures are praised. While I can only speak for myself, I don't try to be nice. I give opinions as straight forward as possible. The thing is that I find that the level of the pictures posted here went up quite a lot and keep improving as time pass by.

That being said, thank you for your honnesty, I am aware of the fact that this isn't one of my greatest picture.

Seb, this is where my eye is drawn to. Forgive me for butchering.
I don' like the T tower, or the tail light, or the plate frame.
    The tower really bothered me...
Iv'e overcharged my two cent card again,

Maybe it just dosent work, but to me the reflection is the focal point.
I like it and it woks for me.

Dear Seb, what I did w/you're image was wrong!
Though I hope that it's not unforgiveable!
I knew it was wrong at the time, but it was easier and quicker to show how I felt than to write it.
It has been weighing on me sice I posted.
    Please accept my appology,
    Mark

    Hello Mark,

There is no need to apologize. We are all free to express our views on others work. I haven't commented on your post so far as I wasn't home for the past few days.

To be honnest, your crops didn't work for me either as they almost are abstracts which isn't what I was looking for. That being said, I appreciate that you took the time to comment on my picture. By all means, keep commenting on my work when you want to, this is the purpose of the board.

    regards

    Seb
