    The Mausolium
I did an online search of Myrtle Hill, yes there are hundreds of pictures. This one is a little different I haven't seen one like it. I would give anything if I could get inside and lay some red flowers on the floor. This was shot through a window with the Sigma 8-16mm and NEX 7.

Don't know how much pp you did but it worked very well.
I know what you mean about the red flowers...myself I'd want a person in the far right corner sitting on the floor in a grief posture...knees up...head in hand sort of thing.

    Very nice!

I like the lines, everything is straight. It could have stronger shadows.

The red flowers on the brightest part would take this photo to another level.

Thanks Alexadre, Thanks Frog I really did little to it. I skewed it so the door was level and used a Lightroom pre set for color. The exposure is out of camera as they say. Maybe I could throw some flower petals in the window or leaves. I hate to desecrate a grave though.

That was a very good suggestion by Tyson. How about if you underexpose and have a flash setup outside the door shining light on to the stone where the names are written?

Thanks Tyson, Thanks Liban, I'll see what I can do. The beam of light might be the easy part the shadow of the window it would cast another.

A hint of color in the light. I don't want to over cook it.

It is with a tint of reddish-greenish color?

Not sure exactly what spectrum areas you used..?

    Thanks for sharing...

    Re: The Mausolium
What I did was make a duplicate layer and copied, or moved, the window frame onto the floor. Skewed it and lowered the opacity. Then added a layer for the light beam. I used the poly lasso tool and drew out the area for the beam. Added the gradient and dropped the opacity. That simple.

The bottom part of your light ray looks about right but the top bit looks a little odd perhaps just a bit too defined, especially on the wall by the flowers. Maybe blur that edge a bit. Have you experimented with different hues in the light rays ? Some might be tempted to gradient the bottom corners but I think you were right not to do so.

Love the flowers but the light doesn't look like it belongs. remove the reddish tint from it. Post #9 of yours was perfect light. The light should be white in this case as it is coming from the sun which looks to be up in the sky and is bright. Red tints would occur only when the sun is way down and at that point it wouldn't hit the door/window at that angle nor would the rest of the light be whiteish (the rest of the frame).

Edit: also, the red flowers would be in dimmer light. That will make it look more natural and subtle. I think subtly of other elements that might grab the viewers attention after the fact is a good thing.

I agree the flowers look too bright. I'm still undecided as to whether or not they look better there than not, but being less bright would certainly help.

I tend to agree. My wife and I went back and forth with it last night. She likes the light more visible me less.

Wow. It's amazing how much the flowers add to the photo. I'm not sure if they should stay red or not, but I lean towards this being a great example of selective coloring -- especially the red and its connotations and the subject matter.
