    Re: Round Tree and Fence

Don, I like the way you grabbed the subject up close with the fence perspective and the great tree coming up over it. It's a powerful framing here and it works real well for me.
I only have a technical issue with the way it appears that you might have added in a better sky here. I see the blank areas around the tree as if you did not select it close enough. It looks like a glow around the tree which does not look bad in a way, but I think I would not like to leave it that way.
Aside from that, you did a great job picking this scene out and catching it.
    Good work

    Re: Round Tree and Fence

This is a great graphic image. Having only 3 colors and elements really works for me here.

I am not sure about having the fence line run into the upper right corner, perhaps crop a bit off the right? I do like the way the fence runs into the bottom of the image without hitting the corner.

    Good stuff here.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Round Tree and Fence

Thanks guys. I didn't paste in the sky just darkened the sky layer and pasted it. My fit wasn't exact so I faded the edges (cant remember the term for that).

    Re: Round Tree and Fence

Hey Don, I got nothing to add to what was already said except maybe a couple of technical "tips" if you will:

You mean feathered?? When you select and add feather to create a fade for whatever you are doing within the selection....?

As for the darkening, usually i like to duplicate the layer, and work on that new one by:
1- Changing the blending mode, and fixing one channel (namely the one you want)
2- Applying the fixes to the top image, then cutting out the parts i dont like... this allows for a more accurate and mistakes leniency since you can also blurr the edges of the top layer....
3- Sometimes, for a bright sky, you might not need to cut and paste, simply when fixing color balance or levels, select the blue channel and highlights... this sometimes works just fine!

Hope this helps... and I'm sure if anyone has any corrections to make they would jump right in!

    All the best,
    Marc
