Luzern Clocktower (Partial Colour)

Here is my first attempt at a partial colour photograph (and my first post :p ). This was in Luzern, Switzerland. Exposure was slightly tweaked in lightroom and the intensive partial colouring process was done in photoshop. I would really like feedback primarily on the lighting, as I was not sure how to approach it. If nescessary I can include the original (colour and full resolution) or the high res version.:)
Re: Luzern Clocktower (Partial Colour)
I like it. I do see a couple of things though, but minor ones. The roof/flag on the right that is not selective and the heavy shodow at the bottom. You could use a little more room at the top and less at the bottom.

Re: Luzern Clocktower (Partial Colour)
Welcome to the forum, fx101. The selective color treatment here does not work for me personally, but that is not to say it is "wrong". I think it would look better either b&w all the way or the original full color version.
you can post the original unedited vesion but you do not need to send one in any higher resolution or size than what you had here.
I agree with Gregs comments about the shadow at the bottom and leaving more room for the top. The bright light reflecting off the building at the left is drawing my attention away from the center. You could try reducing the brightness of that building so it does not stand out so strong.
Thanks for showing this, and glad you found us.
looking forward to seeing more.

Yes, here is the original colour shot. Something was definitely wrong with the white balance, although I might say it had an interesting effect. :) I agree with the above posters the shadow on the bottom does take away from the image... Maybe lightening it may help.

Re: Luzern Clocktower (Partial Colour)
The original looks far better imo. the colors of the tower and the subtle colrs in the stone look great against the color in the sky. also, the shadow is not as bad because it is left with more detail. I think your b&w conversion before selectively coloring had left it too contrasty.
This is much better.
The composition here is a bit awkward in that i think you are too close to try and capture as much as you did. Either stand back or zoom out and include more or stand much further away and zoom in to compress the scene in the frame. This approach can bring a good solution to the lens/angle distortions from being at the bottom shooting upwards.
Re: Luzern Clocktower (Partial Colour)
Unfortunately there was a stone wall behind me :( so I could not step further back. That was also my only lens at the time (I stupidly left everything else in the car). I think I actually like the original more now that I see it, sometimes you feel compelled to fix what makes something special.
