What an interesting flower !!... I don't think I have seen one of these before in real life !!
Regarding improving, overall, I think this is a very interesting flower, that deserves the photo's. I would try to shoot it again, without the big leaf in the foreground on the left, I find it distracting, and then maybe look for a specimen that does not have the petal fallen on the right. I like flower shots... please show us some more you may have taken during the same session. Thanks for sharing.

That fallen petal. Well...I kinda like the off balance it achieves. However, I wonder if you were to have shifted the flower to the left portion of the scene if if would have worked better. The petal seems to keep the eyes on right side. If the flower was o the left side, the pedal might keep the whole pic in balance. With the flower leaning left, the pedal might look like a rebel escaping to the right.

    Hey
interesting looking flower. Lighting is soft and goes well with this specimen. i do agree with Kamboura about the big leaf in the lower left frame The felling petal, well, not sure if I have an issue with it. If all else were good, I don't think it would bother me. Dof is good. Not bad shot though averall.

thanks gahspidy, lidarman, and kamboura. Thanks so much for your valuable comments. Actually this is the third time I've done on lotus. The very first time is extremely poor, the exposure is not good, and there are too many lotus to distract my attention. I must admit that my observation is really poor, especially in picking up the right flower. Need to work hard on that.

    Really thanks for your comments.

    cheers,

Very nice. I too would agree that if the flower was closer to the middle without the large leaf it would have been right on. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

I would say the word poor is far too harsh here !!... Not perfect is more like it. This is the thing I am personnally strugling with the most, and I am sure everyone else will tell you the same. Getting all the details right before hitting that button is a very hard process, and that is why you always take more than one shot. The better you get, the higher the number of okay ones. That's all !!
