    cranking up the contrast

    This was a pretty mundane test shot but after playing with it in PSP I kinda like the result. Done in 2 layers, contrast +50 / saturation -50 on background layer. I had to blur background as the sensor pattern became prominent with that much contrast, hence the halo effect.

    I like it. I think the halo effect adds to the effect.
    I play with what I thought were tossers too and sometimes like the results.

    The composition works because of how you framed it. Your image reads well left to right. It might make a nice framed poster.

    Jet - I really like what you did. I agree about needing to take chances on average or almost shots; why not, I say. I think it would be even better if the top of the guard wasn't so much higher than the RR track Xing sign though.
