    Long Road Home

My wife and I had to drive across the state to pick up our son from his grandparent's place on Sunday. This was something I just had to stop and shoot along the way. There's smoke from distant fires that accentuated the light rays. I don't like faked rays in photoshop - these are the real deal!

Did you shoot this RAW? if so, you have the potential to create something spectacular by using a little bit of HDR to control those blown highlights in the sky. Overall though, i think it's a very good image. It appeals to me personally. I love this type of shot, being on the road, travelling, going to see things you've never seen before, etc. My cup of tea

Yes I did. I've already applied some recovery and I'm not sure how much more I can get. I also shot a few other frames bracketed, so there's is potential there. I'd probably have to layer it in PS since they were shot handheld and probably won't line up perfectly.
    Thanks for the response!

This is a great example of making something out of nothing. I think the breaks in the yellow line and the texture of the road helps make the picture. It's a very good photo. A better sky would make it a great one.

Here's another exposure I did that isn't exactly the same perspective but very close. It's not quite blown out but still looks it a little bit.

It has a lot of potential as stated, the crisp detail on the road helps. I would think a sky replacement would be simple enough. If you have more exposures.
