Little Tree above the Clouds
It's been awhile since I have posted here. With that what do you think?

Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
I like it quite a bit. Beautiful colors in the sky. Very good detail in the rock.
I am wondering if the tree is a little bit lost, the rocks overpowering it. Perhaps a tighter, vertical crop, to focus more on the tree?
But, it might be your intention as is.
Where is this? And where were you taking the shot from?
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Arne this is Cherokee Rock Village in Alabama. Probably an hour and a half from Atlanta. I was standing on a cliff. But i am at road level. no climbing to get to this point. There is a gap between where I was and the tree of about 30 yards.
Thanks for the comments. I tried as much as I could to bring out the top of the clouds.

Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Thanks for the info. I will have to visit this place.
I think this shot reminds me so much of the play "Waiting For Godot", except that there is a great deal more hope involved.

Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
I think the photo is great but the halos around the branches of the tree really distract me.
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Thanks Don. It's not in the print I may have over sharpened for the web.
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Agree with Don that it's a nice shot but that the halos around the major objects are a problem. Try working on that, not sharpening as much and/or watching the compress % on your JPG.
The simplicity works here. Not a lot of clutter to distract one's eyes from the good stuff - simple but interesting rocks, incredible sky color, and funny little tree (placed at a good point in the frame).
The two rocks below the tree look alive.
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Thanks GB. I agree with watching the compression. With these new high res cameras its easy to do.
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Wonderful colors and composition, the gradient from ppinkish to blue ending in the rocks is really nice
such a peaceful place
well done
thanks for sharing it !
flickr does some additional sharpening on the images, I doubt it is the inability from Greg to process the image correctly
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Thanks Armando. Also for letting me know about the Flickr thing. I have printed it large and it looks fine.
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Oh...such a good photo :) fine playing with colours and light. I like it :)
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Beautiful light and color here Greg! I love how the little tree holds the tension between the weight of the boulders and the airiness of the clouds. Very zen.

Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Hard pressed to think off anything that might add to this Greg, the composition is fine, possibly a tad off the left, but I'm struggling to justify that with the image the way it is. Only thing that I can think off is possibly layering this over a tone mapped layer then using a layer mask ,brush at about 10% luminosity, to spot enhance the rock texture.
I imagine this looks great on your wall as is, nice job.
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
Thanks Pete. I'll see what I can do. I done most of post in Lightroom. I'll put it in CS6 and give it a go.
Re: Little Tree above the Clouds
I say it is a very good shot, but i admit halos around branches.
Landscape and colors are so great!
Can be used as wallpaper for new Windows OS or background for calendars like these, for example.
I'm lucky live in such place, where i can see the clouds-from-above landscapes when i want to, half an hour away from my place.
I'll share with you
