    Lighthouse

Tranøy lighthouse. Taken in Hamarøy Norway. Added a sepia tone and worked on some local contrasts

    Re: Lighthouse

Very nice. The sky, particularly on the right , is a bit contrasty and a bit blown out but it is a great composition with lots for the eye to feast on. I'm wondering if a simple black and white conversion might have worked better here. Or maybe the original colour one?

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

Yeah, I would love to see other versions of this same shot as well. But as it is gorgeous. I love the reflection in the water, very nice and sharp. Agree totally on the great composition. I have one question though. are the converging rail lines too straight on? Thats the first thing I looked at to see where it led me.

    Re: Lighthouse

Now that I see it again, I see the line leads to the curve that leads to the structures. And the main line leads to the mountains as well. So forget my comment.
Contender for the next sticky, I say.
And I want to visit Norway so bad.

    Re: Lighthouse

I agree with Tom on all points. A nice B&W would probably work. Maybe a Lightroom grad filter would help with the sky. I love how it is tack sharp front to back. Great composition.

    Re: Lighthouse

this shot is awesome. I have no problem with the "blown out" upper right corner....to me, the pic is perfectly exposed, and the sepia works wonderfully. The broken reflection on the water and the mountains in the back put it over the top. I'd frame this one right up....

maybe I'm a sucker for landscapes and lighthouses, but this really does it for me....I would love to go there and shoot it myself. You have my vote for a sticky (if I had one)

    WOW! really beautiful !!

I second the comment about the blown light in the right corner, I'll prefer it wasn't there

    Re: Lighthouse

I like this a lot, even if it borders on being a little too bright. One thing that bothers me though: I love the right side and the bridge is good, but I don't like the direct angle of the bridge and instead wish it was at more of an side angle. I think your choice of taking it straight on is a valid one, however. I just think that it may be too 'geometric' like this. Excellent post processing.
