    Bride with a beercan

I shot a wedding two weekends ago with a friend, and captured some candid shots while he did portraits. This is one of my favorites, though I'm not sure if it's too tight (i.e. top of hair chopped off).

I better explain my title. I shot this image with what is known in the Minolta/Sony world as a "Beercan." It is the Minolta 70-210 f/4, circa 1985. More than 20 years old, and still a solid performer in the digital era.

    Hand held

I just realized if I'm to be posting in the Critique forum, I should probably be posting images that aren't my favorites. That way it would result in feedback that would help me turn my non favorite images into favorites. Though, getting helpful feedback on my favorite images may help make them even better too. Oh well, I guess I'll have to shoot for a balance.

    Re: Bride with a beercan

That doesn't look like a candid to me, it looks like a well thought out portrait.

BTW She is a darn good looking bride!

BTW2 I was looking forward to seeing her holding a beer.....
    No, I DON'T need that.

I think it is a very good candid with good exposure, focus, and dof.
As you suspected it is too tight for me, not only at top but a bit at bottom too.
    Keep Shooting!

Thanks Frog! I can always count on you for good cropping tips! I didn't pay any attention how tightly I had framed it until it was in Lightroom, so unfortunately in this case I'm kind of stuck with what I got. Perhaps next time I should remember to back it off a little and crop in later if needed.
