    Re: Self Portrait...

    I really like this one!
Have you played at all with the contrast? I wonder if it would look a little sharper and punchier if you added a bit more contrast. that may also get rid of the detail I can see in the shadow of the open part of the window, I personally find it a bit distracting. Maybe if upping the contrast doesn't get rid of that you could try cloning it out or something
Very good job not getting the camera in the shot btw.

    Re: Self Portrait...

From the responses, evidently my monitor is much brighter than everybody's. What do you see now? Reflection? Clown? - TF

    Re: Self Portrait...

    Here’s my opinion:

The second photo has definetely improved! Love the composition. And no, I don’t see a clown, unless it's the person's face.

Were you there with the owner's permission or actually trespassing?
    -----------------------
Not sure - but maybe if the black part on the far left were cropped out it might further improve and simplify. Just a suggestion, you decide what looks best.

No trick. Clown in the upper half of the window. Can you see it now? On my monitor the eyes are as bright as the white paint on the wall. (Please don't say' "What white paint.")

OK, now I can see the white form on the upper-right corner of the window. I actually thought you were refering as clown to the face in the bottom pane.

However, I think the photo works much better without the clown being visible.

I can clearly see the white paint.

    White paint is clearly visible.

I don't understand. Here it is again with the clown as the brightest thing on the screen on my monitor. - TF

    Re: Self Portrait...

Switched PC's to my least often used - hmm - now I see the clown in each of the photos in this thread. Even the first.

Guess the one I was using before is "off".

It's a striking idea and photo. You look more like a ghost in the first posting, but the other postings look processed. Still good to try to bring you out more, just think you can still make it even better. I didn't even see the clown in the first posting btw

Composition is creative. Not totally sure about the vertical black thing on the left side. It could be a stronger photo if that were cropped out.

THis one may be Sticky material.

If I can't figure out how to get everybody to see at least close to the same thing it will be stuck in the delete file. The last two look like cartoons on my monitor. Very frustrating. Think I'll leave it until tomorrow. – TF

BTW – The reflection is real. The clown and the sign were added.

this is the first thing that popped into google, but just get your brightness set up correctly.

I really would like to see this photo with the clown kind of coming out of the darkness and the relection easy to see. Cool idea

    Re: Self Portrait...

I can't comment on the brightness issue since I'm not in front of a calibrated monitor at the moment. Anyways, I'd like to go on record as saying I hate clowns.

Thank you for your kind words and help. It just doesn't work the way I wanted it to if the clown is too visible and obviously doesn't work if you cannot see him at all. I was really surprised when he couldn't be seen even after brightening three times. I’ll keep trying. Again, thanks - TF

I had done a couple of these, but usually find that I'm limited in some way and have to improvise. A Spyder has top priority on my Christmas list.

That was the idea but I just couldn't pull it off with the different monitors. Maybe I can find something that comes out right on most and then get it printed.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Self Portrait...

I have a pretty good monitor and have been able to see the clown in all of the pictures. I just couldn't tell what it was at first. maybe if it's face wasn't cut off it would be easier to tell.
I personally think that it would be a great shot without the clown.

    Re: Self Portrait...

    What an innovative self portrait

Personally, I prefer Alex's version (no.3 from the top) with the black on the left cropped out and the clown visible but not too imposing (in the later versions, the clown takes over and grabs too much attion IMHO).

    Re: Self Portrait...

So sorry, but scrolling through this post is like attending a Steven King movie! The clown gradually appearing freaked me out a little!

I really like the shot - however the clown seems a little out of place. I say either take you out, or the clown (IMO)
