Kayaking
Caught these two talking, this is partially edited but no cropping/etc... I don't know if this is a salvageable picture because it seems kind of boring and I don't know the best way to crop it or orient it?

Re: Kayaking
First off, let me state that critiquing just isn't my "area". But since I saw that your post currently had 0 replies (hate seeing posts go down with 0 replies:mad2:), I decided to do my best and reply anyway.

Sorry, but I agree with you caleb – I find this picture to be slightly on the "boring" side. :( There really isn't much action going on or anything of the sort to attract the eye. Also, the figures are kind of small and their facial expressions aren't readily viewable. I had to lean forward near my PC monitor to try to make out details.
However, after spending a long while trying out different cropping angles in GIMP – I ended up with this (hopefully) improved version:
• Tightly cropped, placing more emphasis on the two people.
• More "involving" to the viewer.
• Abiding by the "rule-of-thirds", the line of the kayak isn't dead center, but rather resting across one of the "magic lines".
I'd say that your posted image here is likely a keeper, but probably not something award-winning.

Re: Kayaking
Caleb - I would say to crop in, but the issue here is that they guy in the red is looking away from the camera and the other guy's face is too obscured by the helmet, which ends up making the photo lack emotion and interest. I think there's better ones out there waiting to be captured.

Re: Kayaking
Yeah, I felt the same way and just worked on some others :) Thanks for the comments, I like the crop, AMDA... but I'm with GB, and don't like it without at least one clear face.. I ended up scrapping this one
