Nice street shot - your eye for architectural presence is apparent. I might suggest selective burning-in of the images in the murals/screens.

Yes, it works. Great visualization on your part to see this shot, unusual to see such difference in contrast/sharpness and light bloom in the same photo and they balance this well. I second Tuna's burning in suggestion, certainly for part if not all the display area in the middle. It doesn't need a lot as the difference in contrast is part of what works so well.

The building needs to be complete on top or come to a different conclusion. The fine, dark sidewalk patterns at the bottom need some balance, I believe, at the top. I like the anchoring effect of the dark negative space in the upper left and lower right.

Very nice photo! I would like to see the top of the building, however. As it stands now my eye travels up - then has an abrupt ending.

I'm not a fan of B&W at all, it's not a B&W world, so I don't see a need to take the color awy from it. The real problem though is the missing part of the building.

Hi Tuna, I am very glad that you comment on this shot. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi drg, Thanks for the detailed analysis. I find your view on the dark areas in the corners very inspiring which I have not thought about.

Hi Amanda, You are right about the central building. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hi JS, Thanks for the suggestion. I understand your view on the B&W. The colour was taken away in this shot as the colour of the scene was not that attractive. I guess the B&W version would simplify the shot and the contrast would be more prominent. I think reality is important in documentation but may not be that important in art photography.

I like this alot, Yoyo. Very nice contrasts and silhouettes. I think the composition is very well done. Tunas suggestions could work to improve further, but this is very good now as it stands. Very impactful.

I love the B&W on this shot. i am a huge fan of B&W, although I also like color. i just like the way B&W simplifies things. but i understand how others don't like it. i really like the images on the screens too, it kind of adds drama to the shot. i would include the top of the buliding as everyone else has already suggested. great job!!

    Fantastic!!!

I like this one a lot. Very striking. Just curious about the lack of foreshortening in the buildings.... did you correct for lens effects? The fact that all verticals appear parallel give the image a sci-fi sort of eerie feel. Also, I take it this was hand held. What shutter speed?

Good eye on choosing the street shot.

Yoyo, I think that this is truly beautiful. I disagree with the burning suggestion. I like the serious brightness and the vividness of the lights as it stands. On the other hand, I can only agree with the idea to leave more space at the top, partly because of the reasons already stated here but also because I enjoy the glow arround the top of the buldings.

    regards

This looks like something straight out of Blade Runner. Just stunning. We'll see if I have anything more meaningful to say once I get some sleep... but for now, just a great shot.

    Yoyo,

Seb makes the good point about Blade Runner...definitely appears to be an ultra-modern shot. Love the lighting, black and white is beautiful as always from your shots.

    Great job,

    Jared

    Re: City Lights

Hi Gary, Thanks for the kind words as always.

Hi echoback, Thanks for the comments and sharing your view on B&W.

Hi Tim, I am glad that you like this shot. The shot was taken at 17 mm with a 1/60s shutter speed. I did correct the perspective and lens distortion.

Hi Seb, Thanks for the detailed analysis. You are very right about the building in the centre.

Hi Sebastian, I did not think about the "Blade Runner" feeling. A great point! May be it is a coincidence, Ridley Scott said that the city scenes of Hong Kong inspired him to the production of Blade Runner.

Hi Jared, Thanks for the kind words as always.
