Inside the Windwill
Sitting on this one for a while. . .hmm
What do you think?

Re: Inside the Windwill
Don't sit on them anymore lol. that's what i think.
Very moody, great lighing. the stairs breaks what would've been a flatter shot. love how the light leeks from the bottom, it adds a nice little touch. I love all the wooden textures even though i wish there was some other texture to compliment it. That's nitpicking that was out of your control.
very nice!

Re: Inside the Windwill
I think you hit it on the head Liban about there being some other kind of texture in this to break it up or contrast against. I like alot about this shot, but that little something else is missing. I think it is another texture as you touched on. Thanks as always

Re: Inside the Windwill
Excellent. It is very even all round and that slit of light from underneath the door works wonders. Fantastic detail, angles, shapes and textures all round and this invites prolonged and rewarding viewing.

Re: Inside the Windwill
Tom, thanks for the good review. I think it's ok but am starting to wonder if standing more to the right a bit would have given me a better view of the steps and brought in some more depth. . . There was so much other stuff around that I really had to isolate this little area of this scene, but I'm thinking i might have had a bit more room and leverage to get over right a bit more.

Re: Inside the Windwill
I like this a lot very moody but yet has a mysterious apeal to it. Thinking to myself wonder what it would look like in a sepia mild HDR proccess?

Re: Inside the Windwill
Gary - the angle from which you viewed the steps doesn't bother me at all - indeed, the horizontal beam seals off the left side very nicely. As the others have said, the chink of light is what makes it. Without it, it is nice but ordinary - but with it, it is very rewarding.
Cheers

i really like this photo actually... color flows very well with this old setting.

Re: Inside the Windwill
The stairs lead your eyes right down to the little peak of light. I LOVE this shot! Fantastic. Yes, no more sitting indeed! :D

Re: Inside the Windwill
It has more positives than negatives Gary. Good work! I also like the bit of light coming through there (wish it was even bigger). The tonality is very similar here, necessary for this one I think, as contrast could wipe some areas out, but I do wish it wasn't quite that similar. Can't have everything.
Concerning what it is missing: where's the item lying on the floor in front of the door to make you wonder? A hat, pair of gloves, pry bar, key, 1/3 full sack (of gold?), ... something to spice it up and add a conversation point (or as purists say, a subject). Still nice as is..

Re: Inside the Windwill
I think its great...lots of great lines and angles, and texture. I think I would like to see it with a bit more contrast....

Re: Inside the Windwill
I'm happy to see that this is going over ok. Maybe there is hope for this one yet . . .
Yep, more contrast will certainly be there in a print.
Thanks all.

Re: Inside the Windwill
Gary I think it is fine as is. I agree the angle works well. I think it could use a little more color to bring out the textures in the wood but a very good image as is. I can almost hear the boards creeking as someone walks the stairs.

Re: Inside the Windwill
what could I possibly add that hasn't already been said? Love this one for all the reasons already stated :)

Re: Inside the Windwill
Its all been said and I think GB1 has hit my only issue with an object to add a bit of mystery/spice. I was thinking of an old bucket.
