I'm no Boxer...
Another attempt at using my new Bowens Gemini Pro 750/750 lights. Appreciate any advice you could provide so I can look at how to improve upon shots like this, lighting and composition.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, you know I like this a lot and commented on it in your stream. It has great symetry, fun, visual impact. It makes me smile when i look at it because of the fun and imagining you both laughing and enjoying the shoot.
My nitpiks for this would be try to get the main light up a little higher next time so the shadow of his nose drops down a bit more as oposed to up and to the side, although for this shot it seems to work giving him that harsh "deer in the headlight" look.
There seems to be a greenish/yellow tint all around here. Noticeable on the outer edges of the gloves but also in the black hoodie as well. I don't mond in on the edhes of the gloves but I'd like to see the black of the jacket have less of that.
asise from those nits, this is really cool, and great work from the both of you here.

Thanks for smile on my face - I would leave well alone because I think the green makes the photo for me.

Thanks Gary, thanks Roger.

Gary I try to adhear to photographic rules of thumb, 1/3rd's rule ect. etc. if I remember them when shooting. One rule re lighting I have in the back of my mind is to set lights at about the 2pm level for a standard portrait shot which I think I didn't do here given the nose shade. I like shadows so I'll see what I can do during the coming weekend with another theme, my son willing.

I really like the quality of the light in this. Does the tongue texture usually work in shots like this. It looks ok to me, but I am asking if typically it would be left that way or blurred a bit.

Thanks Armando / Daq7, I'm lucky my son has the patience, if not him I usually have to resort to myself as the subject, wife won't have a bar of it.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

As for the tongue, yes usually smoothed out there and thanks for the tip. I've been trying however not to post process too much as I usually get ahead of myself and end up destroying the shot as a result, I'm a post processing beginner.

Thanks again.

Ha .. interesting combination of props and expressions. Not sure how well they all 'fit', but it is a fun shot regardless! The yellow and expression really dominate.

One thing that I'm not sure about though is, that stark while background. It's also apparent that it was cut from another picture, as the edges are soft. Maybe selectively sharpening them would make that unnoticable? I would also like a different background, esp a busy one.
