If this Sea Stack Could Talk
Pretty amazing how these sea stacks form. The hundreds of years and storms this stack has been thru. Kinda mixed about this image some aspects are ok while others I don't care for. Any suggestions on how to improve this image greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for looking

Great tones and color. Nice composition.

The phallic nature ought to appeal to The Lounge.

The sky color doesn't seem real but I'm not saying it isn't.
I think this is a fine shot.
What about it are you having trouble with?

I think just as you say the sky colors don't look real but that is the color it was and the way the reflecting lighting was playing on the trees and horizon. I was using a polarizer and a 4stop ND filter. Actually did very little PP it was toning down the sky somewhat.

looks way over processed to me... for a photograph. it almost looks like a painting. that said i like it. although i think id like it more as a photograph as its great color and subject.

Can't find much wrong w/ this. I have seen skys that look the same, if not more saturated with color. Composition is fine, not too tight, not too wide. If I were to offer a nit-pick it would be to turn down the radius and intensity of your USM settings which will smooth it out a touch and get rid of the halo where the stack meets the blue/purple section of sky. (but this is really hunting for something to complain about!)

I noticed the halo/fringe too, but really don't think it detracts from the image that much. It's a gorgeous scene and I love the treeline in the background.

I think you did a fine job capturing this natural formation; I can feel its presence and magnitude in the landscape. Bravo.

I agree with Dylan that it looks processed, but, in this case, so be it. To me, it's somewhere in between a mid-nineteenth century American painting and a Bryce rendering. I love the effect.

The halo is noticeable, but doesn't bother me.

This shot as it is, is like top 10 or 20 I've ever seen here. The clarity, the colours, the composition. everything just works. Beautiful capture.

This is an excellent image from composition to post processing. Personally, it does not look like a whole lot was done in pp anyway. As MB1 pointed out, there is certainly a very phallic nature to this which should lend to it's appeal even greater. . .
My only nit pik would be to ever so slightly loosen up the crop on bottom and sides.

    Well done

is it just me, but i see a face on the top right of the stack, it looks like a man looking out over the sea.... i see a chin and a nose, even eyes, and the top looks like hair

I really like this shot. Is this an HDR? I love the colors and the textures on the rock formations. Good job!
