I like it, yet something's missing
Hi Folks! I like this picture, and the tone makes it nice and old fashioned to me.

But, nice as it is, there seems to be something missing, and I don't know what it might be. Oh, the obvious answer is a train, but I'm not sure that would work. Any ideas, anyone?

This is a nice image of a place-if the viewer knows where the place is. Otherwise it is missing a center of interest or an object to stop the viewers eye from roaming.

It needs a person or some equipment on the tracks or something more.

I also think the exposure may be a little light and the lines lead a bit too close to the center of the frame althought the line problem might not be an issue if there was something else in the frame.

I had tried to back up and get the board that has the station name on it, but when I do that, there's so much "junk" around (Cars, etc etc) that I felt like it detracted from the character of the picture.

It's a place I want to go out and shoot some more...and I appreciate the ideas of ways to make it more interesting!

Do you have a remote? If so get a trunk/suitcase, position them in a ways from the end of the shadow, sit on them in a 'thinkers' pose of one of your choice...perhaps reading a book. Just a thought.

Definitely missing a person standing there on the platform. Ideally, they would be facing to the right reading a magazine while waiting for the train to arrive.

Not sure about the color cast btw. I think you were shooting for a sepia tone, but it should probably be a little deeper color to get there, and maybe a tad darker.

Shoot one with people in it. Copy and paste it to a layer on top of this photo. Change the opacity of that one for effect.

i think that if u had a guy standing with a mid-sized suitcase or even large backpack on the ground right to the left of his feet, standing facing away from the cam, maybe somewhat close to the edge to the right of where the 4th pillar is... with both hand clasped behind his head looking down the tracks as if trying to see as far as possible to see if anything was coming - Anticipation

hope i described this well enough - it looks good in my mind.

i went with a midsized, definitely not large, or just book bag, because this station doesnt look like a big popular track that people would wait to be going cross country with a bunch of luggage at - its all on you though -

hope this gives you something to consider - nice picture though, i like this

Thanks, everyone, for the thoughts on this one. I'm going to try several different things with folks, suitcases, steamer trunks...we'll see what happens! :)

Can I suggest that you take it at a different time of day as the light is extremely bright in this photo and for me a bit more shadow combined with the other ideas will make this a knockout.
