Nuttin' gets between a squirrel and his dinner :D
Re: High on Sunflower Seeds
Hehe...you got that right!!
Re: High on Sunflower Seeds
Great shot! Good DOF, composition. It appears that he likes sunflower seeds as much as me.

Emily, I think that this is very neat. It's so much more than the typical squirrel snapshot. This is actually a very well composed portrait (it may sound weird considering that we are discussing about a squirrel but that is what your photograph is to me). My only nitpick is that the picture could be a bit sharper but that is not such an issue. I just love that little guy pose.

GB1 & Seb...thanks for your comments! :D

Emily,
I missed this one - great portrait, looks like he's gnawing on a tyre pressure guage I own! I love the dreamy expression on his face.
Been trying to capture one of a squirrel for some time, just can't get close enought to them.
Roger
PS. Did you know that the North American Grey is killing off the native Red Squirrel of Great Britain?
Re: High on Sunflower Seeds
Wonderful capture Emily...I've been trying to get some good captures of a couple squirrels in my front yard, but even from the house...they seem to know when I've got my camera ready to shoot...and then "poof" they're gone!!! Just my luck...hehe...
I think you've really captured this squirrels personality!! This shot is definitely a keeper!!

Nice close up shot, very clear. The focus on this shot is very well done. I love the expression on his face. Great work!

Re: High on Sunflower Seeds
LOL, I love it! Great shot, squirrels in my neighborhood have gotten pretty wild again... for awhile there they were incredibly tame because so many people were feeding them... so tame that they scared the heck out of me so I would have been afraid to approach them. I once had one of them jump onto my leg and cling to my pants. Once they got to be destructive and terrorized the neighbors, they stopped feeding them, so now the squirrels are once again wild and afraid of us... thankfully! It does make it hard to get pictures though, they vanish in a bushy tailed blurr.
Re: High on Sunflower Seeds
Roger, thanks! There were a couple squirrels on the same rock as this one, and they all were just way too occupied with their food to mind me...hehe.
And no I didn't know that about the Grey v. Red squirrel...eek.
Ken, Parco & Cara...thanks to you all too! I also get a lot of these guys on my deck, since I put out bird seed for the birds...kind of a pain, but good photo moments...hehe.
Anyhow, thanks all for your comments on this!! :D
Re: High on Sunflower Seeds
id like to see a bit more DOF to get the eyes in focus. I feel eyes tell most of the story, and it definitely does for this photo. His eyes tell you he's a very content little critter. Good shot nonetheless though. WHat focal length was this shot at?
