    Mr Buzzard

This was hand held at 370mm. I am using the new Kyocera Finecam 410R. I think it is too light to be used hand held at the longer end. But since 99.999% of my shots will be hand held I take what ever I can. Digital is nice that way. you can shoot, shoot shoot and not worry about reloading the film or how much the processing will cost . Take care.

Grab a monopod, its like handheld, but better. I use it 90% of the time.

you need to OVER EXPOSE the scene to get more detail in the TURKEY VULTURE.

your camera's meter is reading the blue sky and exposing for that..... + 1 EV would be a good starting point ;)

A monopod won't do the deal on overhead shots or anything much past 45 degrees. I do have one but use it as a net handle more often than what it was made for.
I think I was over exposed because this bloody camera's smallest aperature seems to be 8.9!!!! Perhaps I shall take a hammer to it and pick up a DSLR. Thanks for the input.

no you need to stay in Aperture priority... f5.6 AND adjust the exposure compensation to +1 ev.

A DSLR may solve your problem(maybe)???, but it's not going to TAKE THE IMAGE FOR YOU ;)
