    Haze on Gerritsen Creek

Just a shot of the creek on an overcast day. Even though the sky was somewhat blown out , I applied a soft focus and a few levels adj, as well as desaturating to give a moody mist feel. I feel that i like the image but would appreciate your feedback on this.
    Thanks

Nice scene. The haze is done well. I wuoldn't have noticed at first. This would be a great place to go at sunset or sunrise to get the same features with great colors. I never have the patience for that myself.

thanks for the comments Lavalamp. This is a great place and is where most of all my shots have come from so far. Being that the sky got blown out by the overcast day, I tried to make it work by creating a whole misty, hazy atmosphere. Seems to me by the look of your bird and insect shots that you have lots of patience as well.

    Hey gahspidy!

I like the misty feel myself, creates an illusion of solitude which I like. I like the horseshoe shape of that little inlet too, kind of draws your eye around the whole area naturally so that you see all! Beautiful shot.

    Hey Betty,
    Thanks for the comments.
Yes, i really like the shape of this creeks end and how they surrounded it with stones. There is actually a whole lot of history here with this creek.Right out on the water there used to be a water powered flour mill with dams allowing the mill to turn as the tide came in and out. It was built in the 1600's by a Dutch settler named Gerritsen and was the first, if not only, water flour mill in the North America. Was used to provide flour for the surrounding villages as well as for George Washington and his troops. Was around for three hundren years and eventually burned down in 1930's. Sorry for the rambling, just wanted to share this piece of history.

Hey gahspidy!!! I don't mind the history at all, I actually like history very much and it always interests me. Too bad it burned down, it would be something lovely to see and cherish. As americans our history isn't as old as many others so losing any is always sad.

I like looking at your pics, I always make sure I do if I see them! They are always great! Thanks for the comments about mine, I am trying! Working on a picture for a "color" contest right now. (Don't win anything just the idea of winning). I have my "props" and took some photos with the digital to get an idea of how it looks, needs a little work. Too much glare for one. (Ribbons for gift packages) But it is very colorful indeed! Now, I am rambling! Thanks!
