Guitar photo
I dedicated about 3 hours and 60 exposures one afternoon to shooting some interesting angles on my sister's guitar. Here is one that I liked. Exposure is 15" f20, Av, ISO 100, custom WB. Handheld Vivitar 283 w/ a pocket bouncer was fired directly overhead, about 4ft above subject. I had a hard time with glare coming off of the lacquer finish on the guitar neck, a polarizer managed to cut it down dramatically though. I think the shot definitely gains more impact when converted to grayscale, but I can't decide. Does the color add or detract? My thinking was that b&w emphasized the lines and composition. I'd love to hear any comments. Thanks in advance.

These are VERY artful.
I am a guitar player and drummer, and usually I don't get excited over stuff like this, but I like this alot.
The color one is what I like.

Definatly the color version, I think it is very interesting with no distractions.

The color shot for sure.
The black and white just doesn't have quite enough contrast for me.
Time well spent.

im a guitarist, and i believe you've just inspired me. it's time to get out the martin :)
definitely the color pic. the gold color of the strings really stands out against the wood and silver.
the only thing that bothers me is the blue in the upper right corner.

Yes, I definately like the color one better. It has more depth to it - the strings stand out more. A little more contrast to the B&W would be good though.
The reflections on the top of the tuning machine look a little funny though, maybe smooth out the scratches, etc in Photoshop.

Thanks to all for the comments, I'm going to tweak the contrast a bit. skyline I agree about the distracting blue. I grabbed a blue blanket to use as a backdrop because my intent the entire time was to convert to grayscale, but I regret it now, I'm a little partial to the color.

Definitly feeling the color photo a lot more, a high resolution version would make for a nice desktop image!
