Greg: An Old Soldier

Hi all .. one more from my trip to Warwick for a family wedding. This guy is called Greg. He was in the army for 9 years and the Royal Navy for 26. He's retired now but is the guardian of a place called Lord Leycester Hospital, which was founded in 1571 by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leycester (and Elizabeth I's bit on the the side!) for disabled soldiers. Greg's hat is Tudor (rather similar to the ones the "beefeaters" wear in the Tower of London.)

In fact, the wedding took place in the chapel and the reception in the Great Hall - a pretty nifty place for a wedding!

Good depth. I like how the stone ground area is so in focus. I wasn't sure at first whether the angle you shot it at was too pedestrian, but the more I look the more I like it. The only thing I wonder is if he should be larger in the frame. Nice

What a lovely location for a wedding - hope all went well.

I keep getting distracte by his footware which look like boating shoes and I'm finding that distracts me a lot.

I think this is a classic example of how to make what most people would have gotten (a snapshot) into a photograph. Great shot Mike. Like Greg said I bet he had a lot of good stories and all he needed was a listening ear. As for wedding location WOW. I sure would like to see that album.
