I love everything about this shot - the sharpness, the colors, the focus on the eye, plain background and the concept is great. Just wondering about this kind of "glow" that is around the bird??

I don’t see a glow on my screen but I am very glad you mention it. My guess is that it must have something to do with the USM used to sharpen the picture. Maybe I am being too aggressive with it and need to tone it back some.

I like this shot as well, and it does appear that this guy is stuffing down all he can. good colors. I too see a sort of glow around the bird especially around the breast area. does not appear to be too much usm. anytrhing else in the editing ? Does not bother me too much, still a fine pic.

Greg, the glow to me looks like you blurred the BG and darkened it maybe? no matter the cause , still a fine image of a green jay

Love the colors... I don't see a glow, just an area where the feathers seem to be luminescent as their changing colors from yellow to green. Excellent sharpness, and a great subject.

I did nothing to the BG, that is how it appears in the picture. I actually went back and looked at the original and it looks like it is just something in the background and not something that happened in post.
