    Gravestone

This is a shot of a moss colored gravestone that I drive by every day that I've been wanting to shoot and finally did so today. Not quite sure if I captured the contrast of the moss on the gravestone as well as possible though. What do you all think?

I like the compostion very much. I also think that the exposure is good. I usally like gravestones done in B&W but feel this one would be better in color. I guess because of the flag? Maybe a selective color? It would be nice to be able to read the headstone if it is a soilder. I think to that I would crop it slightly to get rid of the distraction in the upper left. Change it back to color and it is super. I like it.

Thanks Greg. Unfortunately, the headstone can only be read when right up next to it. It's from the 1920's and between the corrosion and the moss, is very difficult to read most of it. I was thinking about doing this in color but, it was a quick stop and it didn't come out like I wanted. Tried doing some PS'ing but still wasn't happy. Did like how it translated to b&w though. Might have to see about reshooting it tomorrow. Try to get the colors right.

I'll second the color request. Less for the flag than for the moss against snow; I think that has some unusual potential. The flag is just gravy.

Thanks for the input Impossipede. I'm going to stop again on the way home tonight and see what I can come up with

Well, went back to shoot today after work but, with the sun out created lots of shadows that were not working at all. Anyway, here's a shot to give an idea of the colors possible.

I do like the colors on the stone there. Too bad the snow is melting away. . .
