This is one of my first pictures i turned into black and white.
please comment and tell me where to improve.

For this one, I'd adjust the levels (you have photoshop and the like?). It's now too dull. Keep an eye on the hot spots/white spots though on the cheeks, forehead, etc.

As for sharpness, I think it's ok. I don't think you need be tack sharp for a baby photo like this. Having said that, I feel the sharpness of the eyes could use some improvement.
