The Golden Gate (BW)

PC, I know its a big structure but do you think you need (or could),include the top of the first support to increase the dramatic scale with the cars?

The black and white looks nice. I wish it were dead center and without the street light on the left.

I appreciate the effort of the color shot. It's hard to get a fresh angle on things that have been photographed millions of times. My recent shots of the bridge were so tourist like.

I like the first photo, PC. I would crop from the right just to center the shot.The b&w works well with it. I love the flow of cars stretching out into the span. For me, having the top of the second support visible through the arch of the first works great.The second one, in color is interesting but I think the heavy area of rock at the bottom is too much.

Rod - Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, the towers are pretty tall and I don't think that I could have got both the tops and the cars with enough detail on both.

Manacsa - Thanks for pointing out the symmetry issue. I hadn't really noticed it until you said something. I agree with you about shooting something like this and not having it turn out like a zillion other shots of the same thing. That's why I was trying something different, but I don't think it worked out either. Are you in the Bay Area?

Gary - Thank you for commenting as well. I agree with you on the rocks on the second. I wasn't going to post either one of them, but I know that I will be back there someday and was looking for ideas on how to capture this bridge differently the next time around. I think I need to get there very early in the morning to get better light, but this is over an hour from my house and I can't tell from home how bad the fog is going to be in the morning. I'd hate to drag myself out of bed early enough to get there in time only to find nothing but fog.

This might not make much sense, but my eyes couldn't decide where to light on the first picture. They kept moving from the cars to the bridge supports. The b/w words well on this shot.

I like the out-of-the-ordinary angle on the second one.

PC I like it and agree it works well in B&W. I do find the light pole on the left some what distracting but still it has a wonderful feel to it. Nice work as always

Awesome first shot PC. There was a shot similar to this on the front cover of a magazine I saw the other day. I can't tell where you shot this from? Did you pull over on the freeway and walk up that hill? thanks for sharing. no heavy critique here, composition may have been a tad stronger without the out of focus cars at the very bottom. but it doesn't kill it at all.
